Fifteen thousand people gathered at the Illinois State Capitol building yesterday in a "Save Our State" rally for higher taxes in a state that is budgetarily worse off than any other state except California. More than 200 interest groups were represented, including the Illinois Federation of Teachers, the Illinois Education Association, SEIU Healthcare Indiana and Illinois, the AFL-CIO, AARP, and the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Workers Employees Council 31. Main concerns of ralliers included proposed cuts to healthcare and education.
